How I work

I work in an open-ended environment. That means, you decide how long, or short the work we do together is, and what things to cover. My role is to support you in making a change. That might be change from how you think about yourself, relationships, work, or something else. I want you to feel like change is possible. I can help you explore that.

About

We listen, act, and transform

Growing up, I always had an insatiable appetite for life, and it never took much to get me excited about a project, learning something new, or participating in an activity. My response was always when can we start? As an adult, I have learned action is the best learning device. You make a decision, you take action, you look at the result, and you learn. With this principle in mind, I have been able to help individuals find realistic solutions to meet their needs. I have found most people get caught up in ideas and long discussions. One of the questions I often ask them is, “How can you grow if you have nothing to react to?” In therapeutic practice, I have a wide range in my approach to treatment, but my starting point is often utilizing Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). I consider myself a skills-based therapist who focuses on behavior change. Clients often gain more awareness and self-acceptance in our work together. A session might look like us exploring the past (but not getting stuck there), understanding what is going on in the present moment (identifying your needs), and how to move forward into the future (by creating meaningful and realistic goals). Most of my experience is working in community mental health and crisis intervention. Due to the high volume of this work, I have been exposed to, trained in, and comfortable working with all mental health disorders and population groups. Book an appointment with me; I love inspiring people to take the next step.
